COMMUNICATIONS

Basic Reading Strategies

This 13-week program will help build reading strategies as well as develop fluency and comprehension. If you struggle with everyday reading and want to improve your skills, this program is for you.

Language Mechanics

Language Mechanics is a 10-week program about how parts of language work together to make effective communication. This program will look at using grammar and language mechanics to improve reading, writing and spoken language skills for everyday use.

Powerful Paragraphs

Communicate ideas confidently with Powerful Paragraphs! This program will help build writing skills by teaching the elements of effective written communication, from the planning process to a complete product.

NUMERACY

Numeracy Mindset

Get in a mindset for math with this 13-week program to increase confidence working with numbers in everyday life situations.

Essential Skills for Home School and Work

This program will help participants gain confidence using their math skills in a workplace setting, focusing on time management, transactions and budgeting.

DIGITAL SKILLS

Basic Digital Skills

Basic Digital Skills builds computer and digital literacy from the basics of operating a device to using technology confidently in both everyday tasks and professional settings.

STUDY SKILLS & CAEC PREP

Study Skills

Are you preparing for an assessment, test or returning to school? This 6-week Study Skills program will help you get on track to manage time and course materials for better success on your learning journey.

CAEC (Canadian Adult Education Credential)

This 15-week program is designed to prepare for the CAEC (formerly GED) in all subject areas: Reading, Persuasive Writing, Social Studies, Science and Math.


Community Literacy Programs

Queens Family Literacy-Online: Early Years (ages 3-4) and
Queens Family Literacy- Online (ages 5-6)

Have fun learning together as a family! These 18-week programs are for children and their families. Each week, a packet will be available for pick-up at the Queens Family Resource Centre and will include a free book, craft materials, and a game, song or activity ideas. Packets also include a session plan and additional links that you can follow to guide using the packet materials at home. There is a group Facebook page where you can access digital resources for the sessions. This online format gives families the opportunity to participate in literacy programs on their own schedules in the comfort of home.

Let’s Learn Together

"Let's Learn Together" is a 20-week, in-person Mi'Kmaw language program that encourages learning the Mi'Kmaw language as a family. This program takes place at the Astor Theatre and participants of all ages are welcome to attend. Cultural presentations help make this program educational and interactive while take home resources give participants the opportunity to continue learning at home.

Community Tech Clinic (Tuesday Tech)

Have questions about using your computer, smartphone or other device? Need help using apps? We are here to help! This is a drop-in program held at the Thomas H. Raddall Library for 1-on-1 assistance with your everyday tech questions.

Community Engagement

Want to learn more about the local community? Join us every week to learn about a new service, landmark or activity available in Queens. This is a great opportunity to spend more time getting to know about the places and people around us. This program will take place at Queens Learning Network as well as at various locations in the community.
